Lightning Protection System Full Details
➤ What is lightning protection .?
Lightning protection means we all understand lightning strick. Due to this unwanted thunderstorm, many people are losing their lives every year, the electrical appliances in our homes are being destroyed. For example: Coils of refrigerator, TV, computer etc. are being burned. On average, lightning strikes 44,000 times a day on Earth and generates 100 lightning strikes. From which a total of 100000 kilo volts is generated. Which is very very dangerous. This charge is enough to burn anything in 5 seconds.
➤ What is lightning strike.?
Lightning is a huge electric spark that is created as a result of friction between the cloud and the cloud. Friction in the cloud creates lightning along with the positive charge and the negative charge that exists in the cloud.
➤ How to save electrical appliances from thunderstorm.?
We can protect against thunderstorms by using the Lightning Protection System. The Lightning Protection System protects your home, factory and your electrical appliances from unwanted electricity and earth leakage voltage. In the year 1752, Benjamin Franklin invented the first Lightning Protection System. That's why the Lightning Protection System system is also called the Franklin Rod System. In this system, the copper rod or air terminal is installed on the roof of the living room and the copper strip is attached to the copper rod and dug deep into the ground and burned with coal. During the rainy season, when the clouds cause lightning to occur, the lightning discharges into the ground or to the ground without any damage to the undamaged electrons in the air terminal or copper rod.
➤Pictures and works of some materials used in the Lightning Protection System:
- Cross Base:
Copper conductor is installed on the roof and cross base is used to join the copper.
- Test Link Box: The test link box is installed to measure the earth resistance. The copper down conductor is joined in this test link box. To measure the resistance, open the box and measure the resistance with the help of an Earth tester.
- Air Terminal Base:
After installation of the air terminal base rooftop conductor or copper, it is installed. According to the rules of the Bangladesh National Building Code (BNBC), an air terminal base is installed after a 20-20 foot stretch. According to Accord Alliance rules for the factory, the distance from one air terminal base to another air terminal base is 20 feet.
- Air Terminal :
The air terminal usually acts as a receiver. When the thunder falls, this air terminal attracts unwanted electricity and sends it to the ground or to the ground. The throttle is cut on the air terminal base and the air terminal is installed.
- Cooper Strip/Wires :
Copper conductor is its copper conductor. Also called Roof Conductor or Down Conductor. The diameter of this cable is 20x3 ml. It is laid on its roof, which is connected to the ground boring from the roof to the ground or to the ground boring.
